FIFA ranking: 3 (1242)
Betting Says: Will win on home soil (4.00)

They have a very successful coach who knows how to win and they have a very passionate home support. However, there will be huge pressure on them and they may suffer from a lack of options in attack. Odds appear to be toll short to back them to win but they should reach the semi finals at the very least.

Betting Says: Group stage (1.80)
Summary: Have some talented attacking players but have a very dodgy defence. They only won one of their last six qualifying games. Is tight between them and Switzerland for the runners up spot in the group but even if they qualify they will not make it past the last 16.

Betting Says: Quarter Finals (3.40)
Summary: Were the winners in 1998 but have had off field issues in subsequent tournaments. They have a strong spine to the squad and have the benefit of an excellent draw here. Could make the quarter finals with minimal effort. At the current price they make a decent each way bet although the loss through injury of Franck Ribery is a huge blow.

Summary: This could be the year for Argentina. They have quality throughout the team although some say the defence may be found out to be weak against top class opposition. Have the best forward line in the tournament with Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero and Gonzalo Higuain. They will top the group with ease and so will have an easier run to the final than some teams.

To qualify from group: 2.37

Will qualify from the group but will need to adapt to the conditions to excel, in addition, they have suffered a major blow with midfielder Marco Reus being ruled out due to an ankle injury sustained in a warm up game. Tips

Winner

Argentina have a relatively straightforward route to the final. They have three world class forwards in Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero and Gonzalo Higuain. Midfielder Angel di Maria finished the season in top from with Real Madrid and they have a really solid back four. They have a settled team and the lack of travelling, playing all four group games in the south, is a bonus. They also qualified with ease.
Bet: Argentina at 5.00

Group Stage

Group A: Brazil will win the group with ease and can be backed to take all nine points.
Recommendation: Brazil to get nine points.

Group B: Spain should win this group comfortably. The exciting to watch Chile can qualify with Australia finishing bottom with zero points.
Recommendation: Chile to qualify
Recommendation: Australia to get zero points

Group C: This is probably the weakest group in the tournament. The safest bet is probably for Greece to finish bottom.
Recommendation: Greece to finish bottom

Group D: Probably the toughest group to predict, the only thing that can be said with any certainty is that Cost Rica will finish bottom. A decent bet could be for the correct score of 0-0 in the Italy V England match. The game will be played at the hottest time of day in the most humid part of Brazil, in addition teams tend to be much more cautious in opening fixtures.
Recommendation: Costa Rica to finish bottom
Recommendation: Italy V England 0-0 Correct Score

Group E: Winning this group is vital for teams to progress withe the runner up looking like playing Argentina in the last 16. France are the obvious favourites and should win the group.
Recommendation: France to win the group.

Group F: Argentian are he banker bet in this group and the sole aim of Iran will be to avoid three big defeats.

Top European Team

France look the best bet for the European team to go furthest in the tournament. They are strong at the back and full of goals. Also Didier Deschamps seems to have created harmony in the team which has been lacking in France in recent years. Assuming they top their group they have an easier path.
Bet: France at 9.00

Top Goalscorer

Although Argentina are the tip to win the tournament, their goals are likely to be shared amongst the forward line. Therefore, Karim Benzema of France is the selection for top goalscorer.
